General Description 

The Middle Grades Dean of Students works with Grades 5-8 of the school and helps to foster a positive, engaging and caring atmosphere, and a healthy Middle School community. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

1. Faith-Based Discipline and Character Development 

  • Lead the implementation and maintenance of a positive and proactive behavioral management system rooted in Biblical principles, preemptive practices, and grace. 
  • Partner with teachers and administrators to address student conduct. 
  • Collaborate with school leadership to integrate biblical principles and character development into the disciplinary process. 

2. Nurturing Student and Family Relationships 

  • Build strong, Christ-centered relationships with students through individual and group meetings, offering guidance, support and encouragement. 
  • Serve as a point of contact for families, fostering open communication and collaboration to support student success. 
  • Organize and facilitate events and activities that build a sense of community and strengthen school-family connections.

3. Comprehensive Advisory Program

  • Facilitate small group advisory sessions, guiding students in exploring faith, values, and life goals through a Biblical lens. 
  • Collaborate with teachers and counselors to integrate the advisory program with the academic curriculum and social-emotional learning initiatives. 

4. Data-Driven Instruction and Support 

  • Collect and analyze academic data to identify student needs and trends, using insights to inform instructional practices. 
  • Collaborate with teachers and instructional coaches to develop targeted interventions and differentiated instruction for struggling students. 
  • Monitor the effectiveness of interventions and programs, making adjustments as needed based on data analysis. 
  • Prepare reports and presentations for school leadership and stakeholders.

Discovery Program Teacher

General Description: To disciple students and actively engage in the LCS community in ways that promote student growth academically, spiritually, physically, socially, and relationally for the purpose of advancing the school’s stated mission:  “To educate students in the light of God’s word to equip them for a lifetime of learning, leadership, service and worship.” The Teacher is contracted by the School Board upon the recommendation of the Principal and Headmaster.  The Principal will evaluate the performance of the Teacher and annually recommend to the Board the renew/non-renewal of the contract.

  3. Employ instructional methods, means, and aids so as to provide interesting, effective, and enthusiastic teaching/learning.

B.    Teaching tasks include:

  1. Adequate preparation for each class including the meeting of objectives for each assigned curricular area.
  2. Following the Scope and Sequence, Course and Unit objectives, and textbooks as provided or as modified with the permission of the school administration.

Special Programs Teacher (ESE-High School)

The LCS Special Programs teacher ministers to students by providing instruction in all curricular areas from a biblical perspective, by leading devotions from scripture, and by modeling what it is to think and live biblically. Middle School Math Teacher – Part Time 

General Description

Lakeland Christian School seeks a Middle School Math faculty member, committed to “sharpening minds and shepherding hearts.” The ideal candidate should be able to masterfully teach up to four sections of Math 7 and Pre-Algebra and potentially grow into a Full-time position with the school’s growth. Upper School History Teacher

General Description

A Lakeland Christian School teacher is committed to sharpening minds and shepherding hearts of their students. This role requires a commitment to academic excellence, a passion for discipleship and student life, with a focus on equipping students for a lifetime of learning, leadership, service and worship.

Specific Role Description

We seek a content expert in two or more areas of History within our curriculum: American, Ancient World, Modern World/European. Full-time faculty members in the High School teach 6 sections with two prep periods. Full-time faculty in the Middle School teach 5 sections and lead an advisory period (pre-prepared) with two prep periods. Class periods are 45 minutes in length. Ideal candidates would be thought leaders for the department with strong content knowledge and with the ability to teach using multiple modalities in up to 3 courses. The ability to use direct instruction with expertise while winsomely explaining concepts and themes from history in a biblical worldview is critical to the roles. Candidates with experience teaching AP and/or Dual Enrollment courses would be preferred but not required. Currently our department offers three AP courses. We also offer three Dual Enrollment courses through Cedarville University.

Also critical to this role is the ability to contribute to the overall campus life of Upper School students. Opportunities exist in athletics, chapel talks and worship, bible studies, fine arts, and advisory. For the 24-25 school year, all faculty in History will execute unit planning in the model of Understanding by Design by McTighe and Wiggins. Significant training will be offered to all faculty during in-service and pre-service.

Upper School Master Science Teacher and STEM Lead

General Description

The RISE Institute (Research, Innovation, STEM and Entrepreneurship) and science program at Lakeland Christian School are seeking an experienced teacher and coach to join our faculty in some combination of the physical, earth, and engineering sciences. Experience with and vision for First Tech Challenge Robotics is preferred. The ideal candidate will have a sharpening the minds and shepherding the hearts of middle and high schoolers in the context of a can-do, “how might we…” student-centric, learning environment. Working directly with the Director of the RISE Institute and the Director of Academics, the ideal candidate will have the opportunity to lead the cultivation of a robust STEM program, preparing LCS students to pursue God ordained callings in the science, technology, engineering, and applied mathematics.

Staff Positions

School Nurse

General Description 

The School Nurse identifies and treats health disorders among students and provides instruction in the maintenance of good health and disease prevention. The School Nurse must evaluate the physical conditions of students and refer students to appropriate resources as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  1. Administer OTC and prescription medication in accordance with school policies. 
  2. Provide oversight of the handling and storage of all medications and first aid supplies. 
  3. Ensure that all student immunization and health records are in compliance with applicable laws and health department policies. 
  4. Monitor the re-entry to school of students who have been ill or have had conditions that may affect other students (communicable diseases, head lice, etc.) 
  5. Provide general first aid services, CPR, and specialized medical services for students on site or on school sponsored field trips according to school policies and procedures. 
  6. Give special attention to the medical needs of students in the Discovery Program including communication with parents and physicians as appropriate. 
  7. Review all health service policies and procedures as appropriate and make recommendations for revisions to the administration to ensure that LCS is in compliance with all appropriate regulatory requirements and sound professional practice. 
  8. Maintain a clean adequately stocked and safe clinic area. 
  9. Teach health related classes throughout the school as needed and scheduled by Administration.
  10. Perform and schedules routine health screenings as required by law(speech and hearing, scoliosis, etc)

Accounting Specialist

General Description: The Accounting Specialist is responsible for the administration of the School’s financial aid process, state scholarships, and monthly accounting functions. In addition, this person will provide data management support and periodic reporting to key stakeholders across school segments to enhance decision making. Substitute teachers play an important role at Lakeland Christian School. When a teacher is ill or away from his/her students due to a professional obligation elsewhere, it is imperative that the school make every effort to keep instruction moving forward in spite of the teacher’s absence. Substitute Teacher Applications are processed throughout the school year when there is a need to add to the current pool of available substitutes. A processing fee of $75 is required to cover the cost of background screening and drug testing, which are required for employment.
