Polk Scholastic Chess tournament Results

Lakeland Christian School had nine students competing in two divisions at the Polk Scholastic Chess tournament on Saturday at the Bartow Civic Center. Timothy Baggett, Max Boyce, and Ben Houghton won three out of four games in the Middle School Division. Team captain Aidan McGraw, Matthew Klaber, Logan Markham, and Nicolas Poblete finished with two points. Their team score was 11 out of a possible 16 points. Noah Cardwell won two games in the Primary Division, and Calvin Hatch finished 3-1. Five of the chess players competed in their first countywide tournament. Coach Mark Williams was pleased by their results and how they represented our school. Their winning rate was better than 60 percent, and no player had a losing record.
